1. Overview
Rootz & Branches LLC complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This policy explains how we handle accounts and data for users under 18 years of age.
We are committed to providing a safe environment for families, including younger members.
2. Minimum Age
The minimum age to use Rootz & Branches LLC is 13 years old. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts.
If we become aware that a user under 13 has created an account, we will immediately delete the account and associated data.
3. Parental Consent
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 must have parental or guardian consent to use Rootz & Branches LLC. By allowing a minor to join your family group, the household admin confirms they have obtained the necessary consent.
Parents or guardians can add minors to their household through the Manage Members screen in Settings.
4. Parental Controls
Rootz & Branches LLC provides robust parental controls for household admins:
- All uploads from members under 18 require household admin approval before they are visible
- Admins can review pending uploads from the household feed
- Admins can restrict what content types younger members can upload
- Admins can remove younger members from the household at any time
- Admins receive notifications when younger members upload content
5. Data & Privacy for Minors
We collect minimal data from users under 18:
- First and last name
- Date of birth (to verify age eligibility)
- Content they upload (subject to parental approval)
We do not collect email addresses from users under 13. Minor accounts are managed under a parent or guardian's household account.
We never use data from minor users for advertising, analytics beyond service operation, or any purpose other than providing the family service.
6. Content Approval
All content uploaded by members under 18 is placed in a pending queue and must be approved by a household admin before it is visible to any family members. This includes:
- Photos
- Voice recordings
- Video uploads (Family and Legacy plans)
- Timeline events
Admins are notified immediately when content is submitted for approval.
7. Parental Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Review all data collected about their child
- Request deletion of their child's data
- Revoke consent and remove their child from the Service
- Restrict their child's ability to upload content
